There’s something powerful about people who fully embrace who they are creatively, spiritually, and unapologetically. In this Stay Lit Spotlight, we’re sitting down with Tino Masanga: a multi-talented, creative individual whose journey blends music, storytelling, and faith in a way that feels both grounded and refreshing. From songwriting to podcasting (and a few unexpected quirks in between), Tino is a reminder that living authentically is one of the boldest ways to reflect Christ in everyday life.
Meet Tino Masanga
For those who don’t know you yet, how would you introduce yourself?
My name is Tino Masanga, a singer/songwriter, recording engineer, and podcaster (currently adding more to the list), based in Doncaster. You will be shocked to know that I don’t own a pair of jeans.

Finding a Personal Relationship with God
When did your relationship with God move from routine to something personal?
I grew up going to church but didn't really connect to it that much. I did know that I loved music, and for a while it's the thing that kept me connected to God. At 17, I decided to start writing songs, and through that I started spending more time in the Word, and God started becoming more real.
A key moment for me came about 7 years later, during the COVID lockdowns. I had been feeling really down, very anxious and depressed, so I went on a long walk to clear my head and talk to God. I talked and talked until I couldn't say anymore and was just silent for a long time. It was in that silence that I felt God respond to every single concern and worry I had. I left feeling very peaceful, and I had confidence knowing God loved me and wanted to comfort me.
How has your walk with God changed the way you see the world and treat other people?
Being a loving and lovable Christian is the main goal. There are so many people going through difficult times, and they just need people to love them. I do not know what people are facing, so I want their encounters with me to be positive and for them to feel the love of God by extension of me.

The Creative Process
When you’re creating, how does your relationship with God show up?
This is a constantly changing thing, but I’m usually writing or creating things in response to God. Either I’m grateful for something He has done, or I’m complaining about something and just need reassurance. I create like a child in response to a loving parent, everything goes to Him and is for Him.
What obstacles have shaped you the most, both personally and creatively?
I’ve had to overcome a lot of self-doubt and imposter syndrome. I didn’t go to music school, and I didn’t grow up with positive reactions to my singing voice (lol), so it can be hard to stand and say I’m an artist. What helps me overcome is:
- God wants to hear what I have to say and the art I create.
- The art God has put in my heart might help someone reconnect to God, themselves, or others, so it’s worth putting it out there.
The reason why I am an artist is more important than my self-doubt about my artistry.
What are you currently working on or excited about right now?
As mentioned before, I wear many hats, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
I’m releasing new music this year and working on an album, so keep an eye out for that. The album is a series of prayers I’ve said in different seasons of my life.
My wife and I host a podcast each week, and we speak to Christian artists about their songs. We have a wide range from DOE Jones to STAND Music.
I run a free Christian music studio. If you are an artist, MannaHouse is ready for you to use.
As a songwriter, I am writing and collaborating with more artists than before, which is exciting.
