We all love the idea of a fresh start. A new year brings new plans, new gym memberships, and a renewed sense of optimism. But what happens when those good intentions fail by the end of the first week?
Maybe you set a goal to be more active, but you're already back to your old couch-potato ways. Perhaps you wanted to eat healthier, but that slice of cake was just too tempting. Or maybe you aimed to grow closer to God, but you keep finding yourself falling into the same old sins.
If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. The truth is, change takes time and continued effort. It's so easy to get discouraged when we stumble, but the important thing is to get back up.
The Bible is full of verses that remind us of God's grace, faithfulness and forgiveness. Here are a few of my favourites:
Romans 8:1: "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Philippians 3:12-14: "I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us."
The hardest thing about messing up is trying to then figure out how to ‘fix it’. The devil tries to plant seeds of doubt in our minds and drives us to believe that we can’t go back to God in our mess. But the verses i’ve just shared say otherwise. They speak volumes.

These verses remind us that God's love for us is constant, even when we mess up. He doesn't expect us to be perfect, but He does want us to keep growing towards Him in faith.
So, what can you do if you've started the year off on the wrong foot? Here are a few tips:
Tips on starting over, the right way
Be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up for your mistakes. Everyone stumbles sometimes.
Focus on small changes. Trying to change everything at once is overwhelming. Start with one small goal, like reading your Bible for 10 minutes each day.
Find an accountability partner. Talk to a friend, family member, or pastor about your goals. They can offer support and encouragement.
Give yourself consistent reminders of God’s love through Scripture affirmations. It’s one of the reasons we started this brand, so that even the clothes we wear can be a reminder of the promises God has for us.
Reminders of God's love for us
So, this year may not have started exactly as you planned, but that doesn't mean it can't be a great year. With God you can achieve your goals, you can make those life changes one step at a time and grow closer to Him in the process.
