Trusting God Through The Seasons Of Life

Spring hit different this year...

New year is usually the time we aim to experience change but as 2020 turned into 2021, I remember feeling an underwhelming sense of nothing.

Yes, there were fireworks and yes, the date had changed... but life hadn’t. We were still in a pandemic and actually worse, England had officially gone into the third lockdown. It was cold,

It was wet,

It was snowy,

It was icy.

Getting outside was hard, getting around was even harder, finding motivation to do anything seemed impossible and life looked as bleak as the sky.

January passed, February passed but it wasn’t until March, when my bestie came over for a garden picnic that I realised life will not always be this way.

Spring hit different this year... The sun shone so hot that day we were lazing around outside in T-shirts wishing we’d used sunscreen

To some, the phrase 'seasons change' might bring up the response of

"well DUH, obviously!"

But this simple phrase has changed the way I see life.

“For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth her green figs, And the vines with the tender grapes Give a good smell. Rise up, my love, my fair one, And come away!”
‭‭Song of Solomon‬ ‭2:11-13‬

If it wasn’t for 2020...

I would never have noticed the picturesque area I live in. I'm surrounded by nature, wildlife and growth.

If it wasn’t for 2020...

I would have never found my walking feet.

(Who knew that my favourite hobby would turn out to be choosing to find adventure in every day?)

If it wasn’t for 2020...

I would’ve never learned to appreciate any season except for summer!

Seasons do change!

Seasons Change blog post by Stay Lit Apparel, Learning To Trust God in Different Seasons of Life

One of my favourite song writers, Kemi Ogendi wrote - this beautiful song called Winter

The lyrics go something like this:

Winter didn’t last The coldest months have passed Time will heal our bumps and bruises Mend the broken hearts Winter didn’t last The shadow time has past Light will fill the skies above us Chase away the dark

Here's a link to the song, its too good not to share. See for yourself.

Friends, I want you to know, this is just a moment in the journey called life. It has a purpose, one we may not see yet, but one nonetheless.

One day we will look back on this piece of the puzzle and say God, I didn’t see it then, but I get it now. Thank You for that season and thank You for bringing me through.

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace."
Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:1-8‬

I don't know what season you're going through right now, but I promise God has a purpose in it. Trust Him, be patient and you'll see.
